Spring Break got off to a great start with a sleepover! Sami had best pal Brinn over and a fun time was had by all. I took this shot earlier in the in the evening at dinner, after they had already spent an hour running wild at the park. They ate every bite of their food and we headed back to the house for more playtime - I barely saw the two of them for the rest of the night they were so busy.
I had taken the week off work, so we spent a lot of the week hanging at home, doin stuff together. My boyfriend's daughters were visiting from Oklahoma the same week, so we did a few things with them as well, one of which was me and Sami's first visit to the Renassaince Fair! I think I am the only adult I know who had never gone, and my boyfriend is a big fan, so we all spent a day out there. Sami had a BLAST! She really enjoyed the shows, food and (of course) shops! Here are some photo highlights from the day:
Yes. I think we have acquired another annual event to plan on in years to come!
Another Spring break highlight was a visit from my dear friend Mary Anne. She used to be my boss, but retired a couple years ago. We are both from the great state of Michigan and most of her family is still there! Back when Sami was in treatment, Mary Anne's mother, Anna, (in Michigan) kind of "adopted" Sami as another grandchild. She sent Sam little cards and gifts, (still does!) and in return we send photos and notes to keep her updated since she does not have internet and cannot, therefore, read this crazy blog! Anyway, I had not seen May Anne in a while, so she came over for an afternoon of pizza, games and catching up. I managed to grab this shot during a very fun game of Headbandz.
In other happenings, Sami is still doing great in school and she is reading books like crazy! I went along as a chaperon on the first grade field trip to the zoo in February, which was quite the fun time. I had not ridden on a school bus in over 30 years, which made the whole adventure extra fun.... Turns out, not much has changed in that respect. Here's a shot from that outing - my eyes are closed, but I only managed to take three photos that day, and sadly, this is the best one:
The weather is steadily warming up and we have been spending more time outdoors, enjoying it. Sami's blood work continues to look fabulous, and in May we will mark two years since she finished treatment! Thanks for checking in and I hope you and your families are all safe, happy and healthy!
PS - A big "shout-out" to my Aunt Pam down in Florida, who still reads this blog and paid me the best compliment the last time we spoke -- she said that reading my blog posts were just like sitting down and chatting with me! Thanks Pam! Keep reading.
Until next time!
Dad would have been proud that Sami went for the big leg at the Ren fair. Nice.
