Christmas 2010

Ok gang.  We made it through another Christmas!  This year was a very crazy and fun holiday season for us.  Sami, much like last year, was VERY into Christmas and literally was bouncing around the house like a pinball by Christmas Eve!  She asked Santa for a Wii, several Webkinz animals, and some books - all of which magically appearred beneath our tree on Christmas morning  Here's a couple more Christmas morning shots:

Mom and dad came over with some cinnamon rolls to watch the gift opening madness.  After they went home, we had a few hours to play with gifts, make our favorite sweet potato recipe, and get ready for dinner at mom and dad's house.  

Over at my folks' house the fun continued.  My boyfriend Ray and his son Tyler joined us for the festivities.  Here's a few pictures of the family, including one nice shot of all of us (thanks Ray!)  Naturally, Sami was making a funny face in the group shot, but that IS her personality after all!

 In other Holiday news, Sami was in the Nutcracker again this year.  Her dance school puts on a fabulous production.  This year Sami got to play one of the mice - a role she embodied for several weeks around the house to stay in character!

This week we are playing Wii alot, trying to put some order back into my house, and Sami is spending a lot of time play acting with her new Webkin animals and the Ameriscan girl doll grandma got for her!  New Years Eve we are making dinner, and hangin here at the house with Ray and Tyler.  There will probably be several Wii tournaments, some silly string  and a few fireworks on the agenda as well!

Birthday Girl!!

 

Today this sweet girl turned 7.   SEVEN!  Can you believe it?  

The celebration began yesterday afternoon with a Kitten-themed birthday bash at our house.  Sami and seven of her little friends donned ears and whiskers for some furry fun!  We had kitty decorations, played kitty games and a cake which could ONLY be described as Purrrrrrrrrfect!  Here's why:

The credit for this adorable creation goes to my most wonderful and talented sister, Tena, and her equally super and talented husband, Mike!  They are the cake experts in our family and have made each of Sami's special request cakes so far!  Tena has a bum shoulder right now, so most of the detail-work (which is quite time-consuming and tedious by the way,) fell to Mike's ever-qualified hands.  So Mike, I owe you for this one especially!!  You have a high-grade six-pack coming your way, along with a HUGE hug from Sami!

At the end of the party, we had a very happy kitty-girl with a big pile of loot behind her!

 

Today, we continued the birthday fun by bringing donuts for Sami's class.  Then we went out to dinner tonight at her MOST favorite feeding place -- Golden Corral!  Here is Sami posing with her birthday gift from me - a kitty Webkin she has named "Copycat." 

The staff at the restaurant brought her a cupcake and sang a big loud song.  Sami was not sure how to react, and just kinda sat there staring while they all sang.  It was pretty funny to see her with nothing to say!

You can see by the assortment of other desserts on her plate why this place is one of her favorites!  She was spinning like a top, chattering away for an hour after we got home!  Right now?  Following a hot shower and the inevitable "sugar crash," my little birthday angel is fast asleep!

Tomorrow night, we continue the celebration for one more day, going out for pizza with my boyfriend and his son.  I suspect that by Wednesday our lives will do the 180 degree focus shift to Christmas again!  I really love this time of year though, so many fun things going on!  Hope you are all doing well and I will try to post more frequently -- I know, I say that every time, but really, I will!
