Well, here we are.. Today Sami and I attended our third "Survivor Day" celebration at the hospital. Last year, it was held on the day we got home from Hawaii, so we were a bit more awake for this one! Sami had a blast, and it was GREAT to see all the nurses and staff again. We do not see most of them anymore, because Sami is not in treatment and, thankfully, has had no reason to be in the hospital. Even so, these people still feel like family to me and it was heartwarming to see them again. Days like this remind me of what Sami has been through, and I am soooo grateful she is healthy now. Those months we spent with her so sick seem so long ago, but remain vivid in my mind. It is funny though, that Sami did not remember many of the folks who had spent all that time caring for her-- today they were hugging her and talking about how much she has grown. Maybe she was too young, or just too sick, I am not sure. But for a kid that has a memory that is practically photogenic for all other things, I found it interesting...
Here's a few other pics from the day, including her face painting (of an ice cream cone!) the hat she made, and her Bingo prize!
I am a lucky mom.
